Special Events at the Biennial Conference

In addition to plenary sessions, paper sessions, and invited presentations, we have a number of special events planned for the Biennial Conference in April, where our theme is “Live, Move, and Have Being: Migration and Practical Theology.” Among the special events are:
[1] Tour of the United Nations for conference registrants who wish to sign up for it (although space is limited). The Tour is 1:15-2:15 on Friday. There is no charge. You must line up by 12:15 at the UN Visitor Center for the tour due to security processes. You can sign up for this when you register for the conference online.
[2] A UN Briefing on migration for us immediately following the tour. The Briefing will be 2:45-3:45 at the UN Headquarters. If you sign up for the Tour, you will automatically be signed up for the Briefing. If you cannot make the Tour but would like to make it to the Briefing, please let us know by 10 March. Space will be limited.
[3] We are offering an optional lunch talk and tour of a local hip hop studio/tattoo-piercing-graffiti art parlor, called Tuff City, near Fordham’s campus in the Bronx on Saturday. No extra cost. The talk will be by Prof. Tamara Henry of New York Theological Seminary in NYC, on hip hop, religious education, and practical theology. You can sign up at registration online. Space will be limited.
[4] Sunday morning at the UN Church Center in the Chapel, there will be a Zen-Christian learning and meditation service, led by Robert Kennedy, S.J., Roshi, from the Morning Star Zendo in Jersey City, NJ.
Hope to see you in NYC in April! We will continue to post occasional updates about the Biennial Conference here in the midst of other practical theology matters of interest.
Tom Beaudoin, President, APT
