My major work focus through spring of 2017 is a project I’m doing with WFUV, a public radio station housed here at Fordham that plays roots, alternative, and some classic rock, but that tends to focus on emerging indie artists. I am teaming up with WFUV (http://www.wfuv.org) to offer a free, open, online public course in spring 2017, tentatively titled “Faith in Music: Robert Johnson to Beyonce.” The course will study the religious/spiritual significance of popular music today by getting into some of the religious/spiritual influences on eight artists: Robert Johnson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Carlos Santana, Bjork, and Beyonce. It’s really a theology of music course for music fans and the spiritually/religiously curious. After we make this happen in 2017, I’ll be turning to some long-delayed book projects.

As always, we encourage APT members to submit short descriptions of their current work in university, church, and/or public contexts for publication on our website and Facebook pages to Marc Lavallee (mlavallee@barry.edu).
